What happens when Bloom’s Taxonomy is used to construct Higher Order Thinking activities?

Rationale

The Scottish Government states that teachers should ‘consciously promote the development of higher order thinking skills.’ (The Scottish Government, Building the Curriculum 4) Higher Order Thinking (H.O.T) Skills are seen as a vital skill for life, therefore it is essential to develop H.O.T skills within the classroom. Bloom’s Taxonomy is a framework that is regularly used within Education to inform thinking skills required to fulfil a task, I will use Bloom’s Taxonomy to construct H.O.T activities to enhance Teaching and Learning.

Aims

The aim of this Professional Enquiry was to investigate the impact of Bloom’s Taxonomy inspired higher order thinking activities within the classroom and how this enhances the learning experience.
